Episode 8: We started "Songquest", looking forwared for the "Shadow of the Erdtree" and dancing to the Westcoast G-Funk sound
Hey there, everyone! I trust you’re all doing great. Now, you might be wondering where I’ve been lately. Well, you’re spot on to ask. With a few things keeping me busy, I wasn’t able to pen down our weekly gathering for the past couple of weeks. But fear not, I’m excited to fill you in on what’s been going on. Let’s get straight into it.
Housekeeping
“Songquest” involves approaching strangers on the street and challenging them to identify the artist of a song playing through headphones we provide—a creative spin on the traditional music quiz show. After just two weeks of hosting the show, I can confidently say it’s one of the most fulfilling projects I’ve pursued in my career. As a music enthusiast, being able to work closely with music brings me immense joy. Additionally, connecting with new people and sharing our love for music, even if it’s only for a brief moment, fills me with energy and happiness.

Tunes of the Week
Lately, I’ve been diving into music across all genres, with the occasional influence from “Songquest” sessions. But there are two albums that I just can’t get enough of right now.
First up is the debut album from “Tha Dogg Pound” (1995). Released during the peak of Death Row Records’ dominance in the hip-hop scene and the reign of the West Coast sound, this LP boasts tracks like “Dogg Pound Gangstaz,” “Respect,” and “Let’s Play House” that I absolutely love. Overall, it’s an album that I find myself listening to straight through without skipping a beat. I’d easily rate it a 4 out of 5.
Now, onto the second album I want to share with you: it’s the seventh and final studio album by the British–American rock band Wings, titled “Back to the Egg,” released in June 1979. While it didn’t receive the most favorable reviews upon its release, I personally enjoy the overall sound the album delivers. I’d rate it a solid 3 out of 5.
Hollywood Lakers
Currently, I'm watching in the HBO TV series "Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty." The show boasts a visually captivating style that transports viewers to the vibrant world of professional basketball in the 1980s. Embracing the bold and colorful aesthetics of the era, it features flashy outfits, extravagant hairstyles, and sleek interior designs synonymous with the Los Angeles Lakers' dominant era. Through meticulous cinematography and production design, every detail evokes the energy and excitement of the 1980s basketball scene, providing viewers with an immersive experience into the era's glamour and opulence. If you're a basketball enthusiast or a fan of the '80s aesthetic, this series is a must-watch!
Shohei Ohtani is arguably one of the most talked-about athletes in the world today. For those who aren’t following MLB news, he’s widely regarded as one of the best players to ever pick up a bat. The LA Dodgers offered a whopping $700 million, 10-year contract to sign him. Check out this amusing video that sums up the Ohtani-Dodgers deal.

Shadow of the Erdtree
One of the most significant gaming announcements for me is the reveal of the Elden Ring DLC. As a fan of the Dark Souls series and the latest “Elden Ring,” I’m absolutely excited about the DLC’s release on the 21st of June later this year. With over 80 hours invested in Elden Ring, I can’t wait to saddle up my horse and explore the new territories and quests.
